Update on the Blog & Other Things

First off, I apologize for the lag time in July. When I got back from vacation, I was super lazy and didn't feel like doing any updates, reviews, etc. Now I'm back and ready to start posting some more.

You've probably noticed that I've changed my layout and moved things around. I thought the old layout looked a bit "default" (if that makes sense) so I found this one that I really like. I hope you find it easy to navigate and that you like it as well.
Next I must say thanks a BUNCH to my YouTube subscribers! I didn't think that I would even surpass 10, but I received a lot of new subscribers after I got back from vacation. Thank you, thank you! I haven't been consistent with my video reviews. I tried recording videos, but they weren't interesting to be so I didn't post them up. I'm also unsure as to how to make my videos e.g. length of video, how long the summary should be, and what people look for. If you have any suggestions please let me know :D

I hope you're all doing well and that your summer is going well. Thanks so much for even viewing my site and if you have any comments/feedback/book info/etc on this post, please comment.

I adore your comments :) it lets me know that someone views this blog XD I'll be sure to comment back!

Solid by Shelley Workinger (Solid #1)

Solid

Pages: 221
Released: July 9, 2010
Solid by
Summary: Clio Kaid's life was changed before she was even born. Eighteen years preceding, a rogue doctor secretly distributed a chromosomal drug to 100 pregnant women. Not long after the children are born, the doctor is killed and the knowledge of the drugs along with him. The military later on discovers the experiment and rushes Clio and the other teens to a special facility in order to learn more about them. While at the facility, they discover the effects of the drugs and other hidden secrets.

My Thoughts: Right off the bat, I was intrigued by the book's premise, I found it original and I was curious to find out more. I must admit, the book was a pretty quick read, but I must say that the beginning was a bit slow for me. Once it picked up though, it didn't slow down and the adventure kept delivering.

Workinger does a great job writing the characters because they are central to the story and the chemistry between them is excellent. They were different from one another, but that made it all the more interesting. I would say that my favorite character was Garrett, because he brought his humor to the group and simply made the dialogue hilarious to read.

Another thing that I enjoyed were the abilities that the characters had. It sort of reminded me of the Gone series or Xmen. It was awesome finding out what each person's ability was and how it sort of fit their character.

Towards the last few chapters, I was on the edge of my seat rooting for the characters to make it through. In the end you discover quite a bit, but you're also left with some questions for the next book, Settling.

Conclusion: Overall, this is a fun, unique story and you should check it because it has a bit of everything wrapped up in one--mystery, adventure, sci-fi, supernatural, and romance.

P.S. I received this book from the author and my review is not biased. :)

4/5 stars

The Death Cure - Book Preview

The Death Cure (Maze Runner #3) by James Dashner preview!

Here are the first 18 pages of the book :)

The book comes out October 11, 2011. Yes, The Scorched Trials left me so confused and at a stand-still, but I'm still excited for the final book. I need to find out what the whole series is leading up to and I need my questions answered! I hope it's as good as the first book. I just read the first 18 pages and I must say that it has made me excited for the release of the book. It's still written in this vague tone, but it seems promising (as in all the questions will be answered this time!). The last page leaves you at a cliffhanger and I'm ready to read the rest.

For those who haven't read the Maze Runner series yet, I would say that the first book of the series was great and kept me at the edge of my seat whereas the second book made me more confused as ever and a bit upset at the end.

P.S. Yup I'm still on vacation, but the hotel that I'm staying at has computers for me to use :D so I've been able to check up on my blog and such. I'll be fully back on the 21st, until then I hope your summer is going well. And thanks for my new YouTube subscribers :DD

Hey guys

I'll be going on vacation starting today and I'll be back on July 21st. I've been lagging a bit with my reading this summer because it's well... summer! But Thanks so much for checking out my blog and I will get back to you guys soon! I'm planning on bringing a couple of books to read along the trip (just not sure if I'll be able to finish many). Don't worry though I'll keep up with my reading once I get back. In the mean time... I hope you all have a fantastic summer, read some great books, and soak up the sun! :D

Here the books I'm planning on bringing with me... I think I'll only end up finishing 1 or 2 of them lol. Don't worry most of these books are e-books so that's why there are so many >.<
  1. Solid by Shelley Workinger (I'm almost done with it)
  2. The Boys Next Door by Jennifer Echols (A really fast read)
  3. Endless Summer by Jennifer Echols (Fast read part 2)
  4. Tower of Parlen Min by Matt Xell (I can't wait to start this! Sorry I'm lagging)
  5. Looking for Alaska by John Green (I want to read it again :D)
  6. Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly (Heard some very good reviews on YouTube for this)
  7. Lonely Planet: Vietnam by Nick Ray (Country guide)
